Artist in conversation: Antoine Junior

Ça phrase d’accroche: Life is Art Very Art 🖼️🎨🖌️

What initially inspired you to become an artist, and how did you develop your unique style?

I felt this need to be free and I needed to find my soul again. Creation is an infinite source that, in my opinion, is a kind of magic. In a world where everything often goes so fast, painting is an art that allows us to remain frozen in time and to hang eternal truths that aim to make minds question. Life must be graceful: living is an art.

Do you have any rituals or routines that help you get into a creative mindset when starting a new project?

Not really, when I feel this intrinsic need to paint what I feel, I go with the feeling and let my creativity speak. The goal is to let go and create a memory.

How do you hope your audience connects with your work, and what emotions or reflections do you want to evoke in them?

I hope that people can dive into an inner silence for a moment, to let themselves feel what they perceive in the canvas within them. That they can read the emotions, messages that I wanted to convey or freely let their imaginations tell them what is happening there: it all depends on the perception, free your mind.

What role do emotions play in your creative process, and how do you channel them into your work?

Emotions play an essential role in creation. It's about getting out what we have inside us and transforming it into colors, it's a kind of alchemy. I try not to channel and to get everything out to lighten my mind and let what I keep on the canvas speak.

Can you describe your favorite piece you've created and why it's meaningful to you?

The painting that speaks to me the most is Galaxia Amoris on the one hand because it is the largest and on the other hand its history. In this work, created with acrylic and sand, I explore the depths of passion and emotional intensity. The textures evoke a universe that is both abstract and semi-abstract, where each brushstroke is a heartbeat. Expressionism mixes with raw energy, inviting reflection on the ardent nature of love and life. This painting vibrates with serenity , bringing a captivating presence that stimulates the senses and awakens emotions. The work is a representation of the divine Masculine and Feminine, in the understanding of our being and who we are when these two energies are well balanced in us and completely accepted we are in the most total light. Galaxy of love...

How do you incorporate feedback from critics and audiences into your artistic practice, and how do you balance this feedback with your own artistic intuition?

The goal is to create and provoke a reaction, whether negative or positive. Criticism is necessary, firstly because people express what they feel or think and this is part of their perceptions and feelings, which is the very goal of painting: express yourself. It is not about agreeing, secondly because it can help me to push my thinking a little further and even to question myself. I also think that it can help to work on oneself and to listen precisely without taking anything in.

How do you stay motivated and inspired despite any setbacks or creative blocks you may encounter?

It's a mix of patience, letting go and above all pleasure. You have to create to exist, to make what you have inside you speak. The real source of motivation comes from within and knowing why you do it. There will always be messages to get across, and days without inspiration are necessary to practice the art of living and nourish your soul.

How do you feel about exhibiting your artworks with The Holy Art Gallery?

It is a great opportunity because we create to show what we do and to share our own universe. It also allows us to see the work of other artists and to meet people. I also think that Holy Art has the means to develop other forms and concepts capable of uniting and bringing together artists.

Looking ahead, what are your long-term goals and aspirations as an artist, and how do you plan to achieve them?

My goal would be to exhibit around the world and meet other artists to develop projects. I would like to continue creating as much as possible and evolve in this direction, because I still have a lot to learn and a lot of messages to convey. I aspire to achieve them by continuing to develop my artistic fiber, I must persevere: Life Is Art Very Art

What role does emotion play in your creative process, and how do you aim to evoke specific feelings or reactions from those who view your artworks?

Emotions are part of each of us, they are energy in themselves that we must learn to circulate and transmute like magicians. So yes, they play an essential role in my creative process, they are the engine, the center, the material of the expression that I will transcribe in color. The works that I paint are a part of me, what they arouse in people does not depend on me. What matters in itself is more the message behind all that: dare to shine in a world where we fear our own light, be the light...
