Artist: Demi Lisjak I MBA ( Mirai Design)

What initially inspired you to become an artist, and how did you develop your unique style?

My mother had sent me to the Art Course when I was 18. Soon after it, I started to play with colors at home and I made anything that made sense to me, except realism. As a natural introvert, I love to spend time alone exploring. Very soon I made my first artwork to couple of close friends to us. They proudly hanged it on a wall in their living room! It was a big approval for me. I liked the smooth transitions of slow drying oil colors and later on I have played with some fast drying acrilyc as well. From the beginning I liked the rich coloristic expression. Later on, I when I started to work, I could buy more art material and experiment with it.

Do you have any rituals or routines that help you get into a creative mindset when starting a new project?

I always have a mini plan that includes measures, sketch and make some artist statements about the concept of the work. I also prepare the materials and pick the collor pallete before I dive into the new project. The rest of it is pure intuitive organisation and visual admiration.

How do you incorporate feedback from critics and audiences into your artistic practice, and how do you balance this feedback with your own artistic intuition?

Most of the feedback was very pleasant about my practice. They always have their favourites. I appreciate critics as well. The constructive critics of my work have learned me what to change and improve. For example, when my brother told me he likes the painting but the colors are not his top pick, I decided to change that and let the people choose their colors. Women like pink, but not do all men like it as well. One lady also said my work reminds her of Kandinsky and I should put higher price on it! :)

How do you feel about exhibiting your artworks with The Holy Art Gallery?

The Holy Art Gallery was a true gem for me. I started with digital art, but will proceed with paintings as well. The first digital artwork was not for sale. I was just so happy that you decided to show my work in Madrid. I was truly honoured by it. I knew this will be an eye-opening experience. We went to the gallery, experienced Madrid to the fullest and we have also met the director of the gallery who has helped us shape a better point of view about art in Madrid. He offered us help in future and his contact as well. I would like to repeat this experience with The Holy Art Gallery, once I will be able to travel to the exhibition again. :)

Looking ahead, what are your long-term goals and aspirations as an artist, and how do you plan to achieve them?

In 2025., I have joined and showed interest in few local Art Associations. There I have met few older people who truly supported my artistic dive-ins into our local art community. They have offered me big support in organizing solo exhibitions thorugh the Art Association. I will continue work and collaborate with them long-term. I also explore online and other opportunities, that is how I found The Holy Art.
From 2026, I finally have my mini home studio that is the core of all that is made. By the end of this year, I plan to expand this interior as well.:)
I also plan to launch a webshop this year where you can directly order and buy a piece that you like and also improve social media visibility. This webshop will open doors to local and other collaborations, as it is easy to communicate it with a clear webpage / webshop. This year I start with some other artistic media as well, so it will be sweet. :)

What role does emotion play in your creative process, and how do you aim to evoke specific feelings or reactions from those who view your artworks?

Emotion is evoked fast in an intuitive, spiritual way. I like to charm my viewers and spark an interest by using bright and pleasant color combinations and simple yet intriguing and modern style. When a viewers wants to hang one of my pieces in their home, it means the artwork has charmed and won the viewer, who becomes the owner of little magical piece. :)

Can you share a particular project that stands out to you and explain the creative process behind it?

My stand out project was my first solo exhibition - ''Chromatic Pulse''. The story was pure spontaniety. My painting was exhibited at the group exhibition in Croatian Art Association in Pula. During that exhibiton, a lady came and she liked my painting. She felt the magical energy from that painting so strongly and deeply, that she wanted to meet me. Few weeks later, we have arranged a solo exhibition that was catched up by local media as well! :)
