Artist spotlight : lucy ibrahim
Artist: Lucy in Abstract (Lucy Ibrahim)
My name is Lucy Ibrahim, and my artistic name is Lucy in Abstract.
Nature, music, and life itself are the main sources of inspiration behind my artistic journey. Music and physical movement—whether through dance or sports—often guide me into a creative state. When I first began creating abstract art, I practiced drawing with my eyes closed while listening to music, allowing my subconscious to lead the process freely.
As a pianist, creative composer, influenced by classical, jazz, and various oriental rhythms throughout the history of music, sound is deeply embedded in the spirit of my artwork. These musical elements translate into subconscious emotions, shapes, and colors that come together to tell a story on canvas.
My work is rooted in emotional expression rather than fixed interpretation. I prefer to let the viewer’s emotions guide their understanding of each piece, allowing the artwork to act as a mirror reflecting their own feelings and life experiences.
At times, expressing heavier emotions can be challenging—especially when life feels out of balance due to grief, conflict, corruption, or circumstances beyond our control. In these moments, I return to nature and to the beauty of simple gestures in our surroundings to restore inner peace and emotional grounding.
I am truly inspired by Holy Art Gallery’s diverse international community of artists and team members. This openness and global collaboration make the experience feel both welcoming and enriching, and I would be honored to be part of such a creative environment.
My future aim is to continue evolving as an artist, gaining greater freedom in my self-expression, and growing alongside my art. I hope to share this journey with others—inviting people to connect emotionally with my work, whether by adopting a piece or feeling the written emotions expressed through my drawings.
Thank you!
