Open Call for Artists: Why the Network Matters More Than the Wall
Search for an open call for artists and you will find hundreds of them. Galleries, project spaces, online platforms, all inviting you to submit. So here is the question that actually matters, the one most artists never ask before applying:
Who is going to see it?
A wall without an audience is just a wall
Any space can hang your work. The difference between an exhibition that moves your career forward and one that quietly happens is the network standing behind it: the people who walk through the door, the community that follows the show online, and what remains findable after the lights go off.
That is the test we invite every artist to apply to us, and to anyone else.
We are the network
The Holy Art has spent six years building exactly this. 25,000+ artists exhibited across 400+ exhibitions in 20+ cities, including London, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Milan, Athens and Amsterdam.
More than 500,000 guests have walked through our doors, and our shows draw anywhere from 700 to 5,000 visitors each, from collectors and curators to people who wandered in off the street and left having discovered their new favourite artist.
Behind the physical rooms sits a community of more than 250,000 artists and collectors who follow what happens on our walls every week. When your work enters a Holy Art show, it enters that network. That is the part a wall alone can never give you.
What the network does for your work
It multiplies every show. Your exhibition is not just the four days in the room. It is the announcement to a quarter of a million people, the opening night crowd, the catalogue that stays online after the show closes because interest in a piece does not end when the exhibition does, and the line on your CV that keeps working for years.
It compounds. Artists who show with us once tend to come back, because each city adds a new audience rather than repeating the last one. Paris sees you, then Tokyo sees you, then London. The network remembers.
How the open call works
Applying is free and takes minutes. Choose your city, submit images of your work, and our curatorial team reviews every submission as it arrives. If selected, an exhibition fee confirms your spot, and your work shows physically on the gallery wall, digitally on screen, and in the exhibition catalogue. All mediums, open theme, every country welcome, and spots in each city are limited.
The autumn season is live now: Paris, Athens, Tokyo, London, Milan, Amsterdam and New York.
The honest close
There are cheaper walls than ours and there are fancier ones. What we built that is genuinely hard to copy is the audience that shows up, in person and online, season after season. An open call is an invitation to a room. Ours is an invitation to a network.
