Sisil Fernando

Sisil Fernando is a Sri Lankan-born, UK-based visual artist whose practice bridges painting, editorial cartooning, and cultural storytelling. Over the past decade, his work has gained international recognition through exhibitions across the UK, Europe, and South Asia, alongside the distinction of being named Cartoonist of the Year Sri Lanka (2019).

Rooted in cultural exchange, Sisil’s art reframes South Asian heritage within contemporary British and global contexts, exploring themes of identity, migration, and belonging. His work resonates with diverse audiences and contributes to cross-cultural dialogue.

In addition to his creative practice, Sisil brings leadership as a lecturer in visual communication and as a senior art director for global agencies. He is committed to mentoring emerging artists, curating community-focused exhibitions, and fostering inclusive public art projects—strengthening the UK’s cultural landscape through innovation and representation.
