Inside Our Galleries: Seven Cities, Seven Spaces
Artists apply to exhibitions without ever seeing the room their work will hang in. We think that's backwards. So here is the autumn season, city by city, space by space.
London16 to 19 October Central London, minutes from Oxford Street and the British Museum. The space is a new, all white gallery spread over several connected rooms, with skylights, sash windows, curved walls and arched openings. Light moves through it all day. Our fourth London show of the year, and our home city always fills fastest.
New York - 13 to 16 November Mriya Gallery, 101 Reade Street, Tribeca. A wide open room with an exposed ceiling and track lighting running down both sides, dense hangs on both walls plus partition walls, and a tiled floor with the centre reserved for floor based work. Closing the year on the biggest stage there is.
Paris18 to 21 September A street level gallery with a full glass frontage, track lighting and a polished concrete floor. Your work visible from the pavement before anyone even steps inside, in September, when the Paris art season is at its peak.
Athens25 to 27 September Normanou 3, in the centre of Athens. A long white room where the work hangs in a single line down the main wall, with a pale floor and a wide opening at the far end. It takes framed work and hanging textile work beautifully, in the city where art history began.
Tokyo6 to 9 October Jingumae, Shibuya, in the heart of Harajuku. A white room with an exposed pipe ceiling, freestanding partition walls forming intimate bays, a pale tiled floor and a wall mounted screen. One of the most creative neighbourhoods on earth, and it shows in who walks through the door.
Milan 23 to 26 October Via Felice Casati 29. A double height room with linear track lighting, freestanding partition walls, and a glass floor panel looking onto the level below. The most architecturally dramatic space on our calendar, in Italy's contemporary art capital.
Amsterdam30 October to 2 November Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat 27HS. A street level room with a tall window, a stained glass transom and a staircase overlooking the floor. Intimate, characterful, and very Amsterdam.
Every show, every city Each exhibition is a Physical & Digital Exhibition: your work on the wall, on gallery screens running from 45 up to 100 inches, and in the printed catalogue, which stays online after the show closes. Opening night is always the first day. All works arrive framed, and our team handles curation, installation and lighting.
