Artist spotlight :Janna Andrews
"In a world constantly moving and dominated by screens and generated content, painting and creating art is a way that I can disconnect and share how I interpret concept and feeling in an authentic and bold way. I have always been split between organic and structure. Emotion and logic. Art and design. This is where I showcase what the in between looks like in visual form."

Janna Andrews
1. Inspiration & Style
Question: What initially inspired you to become an artist, and how did you develop your unique artistic style?
Answer: Beyond innate childhood interests and skill, Janna seriously considered herself an artist only after college. Graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design, she founded two successful marketing agencies before re-introducing non-digital art practices like painting to hold onto her creative edge. Her unique style developed intuitively outside an assigned curriculum, exploring an identity split between meticulous design and the freeform spirit of painting, using bright bold colors and cyber elements.
2. Creative Process
Question: Do you have any rituals or routines that help you get into a creative mindset when starting a new project?
Answer: Lacking much free time, Janna often buys colors before knowing what she will paint and paints the base background to start, letting strokes form an idea or taking a break via music, cinema, walks, or visual inspiration. For shows, she plans the theme and title first so the artworks can follow to beat creative procrastination.
3. Artistic Influences
Question: How do you balance historical or artistic influences with your personal style, and how do these influences manifest in your work today?
Answer: College exposed her to diverse styles, breaking the grade-school notion of a single "right" way to do art. Realizing art is subjective provided the comfort to take risks and not compromise her style without worrying about others' opinions.
4. Emotion & Expression
Question: How do you use your art to evoke emotions, and what role does emotion play in your creative process?
Answer: Painting engages her entire self, physical and mental. She curates playlists to move to while painting, channeling an alter ego of a bold creative personality designed to inspire people to see life beyond daily mediocrity.
5. Standout Projects
Question: Can you share a project that stands out to you and describe the creative process behind it?
Answer: "Summer," one of her first paintings after renting a studio space, stands out. It was her first piece fully using bright colors, becoming a favorite at her first show, a printed downtown mural, a website poster, and owned by a Palm Springs collector, helping spur her artistic confidence.
6. Feedback & Growth
Question: How do you incorporate feedback from critics or audiences into your work, and how do you balance this with your own artistic intuition?
Answer: She distinguishes valid feedback from personal opinions after works are finished. During creation, she consults her partner (also a high-performing creative) if unsure of a piece's direction, though the intended outcome ultimately takes place regardless of initial plans.
7. Motivation & Inspiration
Question: How do you stay motivated and inspired, even when facing creative blocks or challenges?
Answer: Deadlines (such as commissions or art shows) serve as the best motivator. Waiting for inspiration is a creative killer, so the best remedy is to simply start creating to get the brain into the right space.
8. Exhibiting Work
Question: How do you feel about exhibiting your artwork with The Holy Art Gallery, and what does this opportunity mean to you?
Answer: Janna is extremely excited to exhibit with The Holy Art Gallery, looking forward to moving beyond her local city audience to reach a wider demographic and spur her art career to its next evolution.
9. Future Goals
Question: What are your long-term goals and aspirations as an artist, and how do you plan to achieve them?
Answer: Her goal is to showcase her style to as many people as possible, growing her art career so she can create, travel, showcase, and lessen reliance on corporate/technocratic ways of life.
10. Audience Connection
Question: What do you hope viewers take away from experiencing your art, and how do you aim to connect with them on an emotional or intellectual level?
Answer: She hopes to instill a distinct feeling of creative escape that gives the brain permission to think beyond normal algorithms, offering pure connection through art created from an individual soul.
