My journey into mosaic art began in 2019 when I was instantly drawn to the beauty of a floral mosaic I came across. Fascinated by the intricacy and vibrancy of the medium, I immersed myself in learning this magical medium guided by the generosity of fellow mosaic artists who shared their knowledge. Leaving behind my corporate career as an equity analyst in a financial services firm, I embraced this artistic path, finding a profound sense of fulfillment in the meditative nature of mosaic work.
Nature has always been my greatest inspiration. I am captivated by the way light interacts with tiny glass and ceramic pieces, creating reflections that bring the artwork to life. Mosaic art is a process that demands high level of patience, perseverance, and precision. Each piece is carefully shaped and placed, requiring a deep level of focus and dedication. The art itself challenges and pushes me on multiple levels, yet it is this very challenge that makes it so rewarding.
My work primarily focuses on stained glass mosaics, a medium that has evolved as the core of my practice. Each stained glass sheet is meticulously cut into tiny, grain-sized pieces, shaped according to the design, and individually placed onto the base using an adhesive. Over the years, I have experimented with various surfaces for my base, from stainless steel to granite slabs.
At its heart, my art is an expression of the delicate relationship between nature and human emotions. Through my compositions, I aim to evoke nostalgia, wonder, and an appreciation for the natural world. One of my most cherished commissioned projects was a stained glass mosaic featuring Cyprus vine flowers, a beloved childhood memory for my client. This project exemplified the deeply personal and emotional connections that art can foster.
Stained glass mosaics allow me to explore contrast, texture, and depth in ways that transform light into a living part of the artwork. The ever-shifting interplay between transparency and opacity speaks to the impermanence of moments and memories. I hope my work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find a sense of serenity—just as I do when creating each piece. As I continue my artistic journey, I look forward to pushing the boundaries of mosaic art, discovering new techniques, and sharing the magic of this ancient yet ever-evolving art form.
My latest work in 2025 is titled 'Hope: The living Underwater world' featuring underwater mosaic, hand-cut out of stained glass. Measures 1200*600 mm.
